Secretary, Department of Industry, Innovation and Science
Glenys Beauchamp was appointed Secretary of the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science on 18 September 2013.
Prior to taking on this role she was the Secretary of the Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government, Arts and Sport from 2010.
Before being appointed Secretary, Glenys was Deputy Secretary in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and also served as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs while oversighting key policy agendas in relation to child support reforms, early childhood and child protection, early development of the paid parental scheme and implementation of income management, she also co-ordinated Australian Government support in relation to the 2009 Victorian bushfires (and was awarded a Public Service Medal for this work).
Prior to joining the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs in 2002, Glenys was Deputy Chief Executive of the ACT Government Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services and a Deputy CEO with the ACT Department of Health covering community health, aged care, disability services, drug and alcohol and mental health. Other executive positions held in the ACT Government included transport reform, electricity, gas and water reforms, environment policy, housing and oversight for a number of government business enterprises.
Glenys commenced as a graduate in the Industry Commission in the Australian Public Service and has a broad range of experiences in the public sector covering local/state and Commonwealth responsibilities.
In addition to an economics degree from the Australian National University, she has an MBA from the University of Canberra.
